Shosholoza!
Okay, so this isn't quite the Canaries but I have this urge to blog (as I haven't for such a long time) and news about the Canaries requires photos and therefore takes a bit more time than just a quick entry like this... plus I have work to do so shouldn't even be blogging at present (naughty me!!!).
So, to the title of this entry then. Shosholoza! I will admit now that I grew to hate this song when I was in Grahamstown many years ago (can't recall when the song came out but it was linked to either a big rugby event or football event) and it was being sung EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME! But hearing it the other night was just AMAZING! Especially since it was being sung by the group Ladysmith Black Mambazo (a South African group) live! Mmmm, made my spine tingle.
But I jump to the end of the show (which is when this song was sung). So lets get to the start of the story. Cambridge had the pleasure of hosting LBM last week Thursday and my friends and I went to check out the performance. I was a little nervous as my friends are from Canada and have never heard African music before and I was also concerned about how I would feel listening to songs I hadn't heard for a while. We all had a good time though (Yay) and it was cool to spot the South Africans in the crowd (Springbok jerseys all around!). The opening act for the evening were pretty good (I can't recall their name) but when LBM came on stage I was mesmorized! Songs like Homeless and Shosholoza just gave me a lump in my throat and goosebumps! And yip I missed South Africa at the time but also had thoughts going through my head like "if only we could all live in harmony like LBM sing in harmony! " A brilliant evening!
So, if you get a chance to see LBM then I would recommend it 100%!!!! And on that note I best get on with work.
Keep well!

PS: I am not sure when I will post again but please be patient. Life is hectic at present and I am sick of computers by the end of the working day/week!
